What remains is hope  We are so sorry for not having shared some of our last and very beautiful experiences in Lebanon with you! But strangely, although our weeks in Lebanon have changed our lives, our very lives back home took us with them quite quickly on our return back to Europe, and although we have shared all our beautiful experiences to a lot of friends and family here, we did not find the time to share some final thoughts about our stay with you. So, we are very sorry for this long delay, but even more happy to live through some of our beautiful experiences again together with you. Before saying thank you at the end, we would like to dedicate the first part of our last post on this blog to describe our last days in Lebanon and some of their beautiful moments, as well as a lot of photos that we have not managed to show you earlier. Here you go - enjoy! Maghdouché: Our home Some more impressions from our home village, Maghdouche  The v

Common life  At the end of our experience in Lebanon, before we will share some of our very special last experiences with you, and before we will try to summarise what we lived for you, we do not want to end this blog without showing you some of the basics of our daily life here in Lebanon. So far, we have explained you a lot about our daily meetings, our travels, and our work. But of course, also our daily life here, together as a group of three, was a very important aspect of our experience during this month. Strangers? Don't know such a thing. Before we met each other on the airport of Istanbul on the way to Beirut, we did not all know each other personally. But we did not need long time to get along with each other. Instead, we have the impression that from the first moment on, we were friends. There was never a doubt about that: We are friends. Of course, each of us had easier and more difficult days in Lebanon, and of course we also lived moments of tiredness, someti

Welcoming and being welcomed  A bit more than a week ago, we had a very special Friday. In the morning, we had the honour and joy to be welcomed by Bishop Elie Haddad, BS, in his office in Saida, and to get to know a lot about the church in Lebanon through him. And, in turn, in the evening, we welcomed all the teachers, volunteers, and brothers committed with the summer colonies at the Fratelli Association to our home in Maghdouche to have a prayer with songs from Taizé and an evening meal together. "The Holy Spirit resides in Taizé" We are very thankful for having had the great opportunity to meet Bishop Elie Haddad, BS, the bishop of the Greek-Catholic diocese of Saida. Because it is also thanks to his hospitality and his support that our provisional community in Lebanon is actually possible, we were very happy having the occasion to express our gratitude to him. During our meeting, several topics emerged: Bishop Elie explained us a lot about the situation of th

Discovering Lebanon every minute of the day In every little gap in our timetable - before, between, and after the numerous youth meetings we have, and on Sundays, our friends take us to incredibly beautiful places all over the country. We are estonished by the beauty of landscapes, churches, and monuments, but almost equally amazed by the sheer number of wonderful places that we get so see every day. Because often, their beauty makes us remain speechless, and because our full schedule wouldn't allow us to describe all of them in detail, we do not want to make a lot of words here, but just share some picture from every visit. Enjoy! And come to Lebanon!
