Spiritus caritatis confirmet cor tuum

Welcoming and being welcomed

A bit more than a week ago, we had a very special Friday. In the morning, we had the honour and joy to be welcomed by Bishop Elie Haddad, BS, in his office in Saida, and to get to know a lot about the church in Lebanon through him. And, in turn, in the evening, we welcomed all the teachers, volunteers, and brothers committed with the summer colonies at the Fratelli Association to our home in Maghdouche to have a prayer with songs from Taizé and an evening meal together.

"The Holy Spirit resides in Taizé"

We are very thankful for having had the great opportunity to meet Bishop Elie Haddad, BS, the bishop of the Greek-Catholic diocese of Saida. Because it is also thanks to his hospitality and his support that our provisional community in Lebanon is actually possible, we were very happy having the occasion to express our gratitude to him.
During our meeting, several topics emerged: Bishop Elie explained us a lot about the situation of the church in Lebanon, and we were able to share some of our experiences with  his diocese's young people. The bishop was very interested about our life as volunteers living in a provisional community, about our work with the Fratelli project, and of course about our experience in Taizé.
When we started speaking about Taizé, he said: "The Holy Spirit resides in Taizé. I am sure about this".
Thank you, Bishop Elie, for your hospitality and your support!

Like a big family

The same evening, we had the great joy to welcome those brothers, teachers, and volunteers of the Fratelli Project who wanted in our home in Maghdouche. We had prepared a prayer with songs from Taizé. It was very beautiful to become silent all together, after all the intensive work we are usually busy with, to sing to God all together, to bring the experiences that we make together (although we do sometimes not have a lot of time to speak about them with each other) to him, and to pray for peace together, in our region here in Lebanon, but also in Barcelona, and in all the world.
After the prayer, we shared an evening meal all together. Two Syrian volunteers had prepared a traditional dish, and we enjoyed being together in this whole big group that has become our family so quickly.

Table and prayer waiting for our guests.
