We are Jonathan, Florian and Friedemann an we are living in the area of Sidon, Lebanon, during the month of August 2017. Here, you quickly find out who we are!

Jonathan

Hello, I'm Jonathan, 22 years old and currently studying sociology in Marburg. Besides studying I play soccer and work voluntarily with people who have cognitive disabilities.
After my A level I have lived in Taizé as a volunteer. It has been a amazing experience to live in communion with people from all over the world. 
I really look forward to get to know the culture of Lebanon and the people, who are living there. Also I am curious about the projects that we are going to attend.

My name is Friedemann, I am 25 years old and I study psychology in Berlin.
I love to sing, work with my choir, ride the bike, visit my family, travel, and get to know other cultures and languages.
After my a-levels, I have lived in Taizé and Rome as a volunteer. This time filled me with hope and confidence that it is possible to live together in peace and joy, even (or especially?) when we come from so different cultures and denominations.
I am very excited to live in Lebanon for some weeks, to get to know the wonderful people here and to help those who have been forced to leave their homes behind with the very little we have.

Welcoming and being welcomed  A bit more than a week ago, we had a very special Friday. In the morning, we had the honour and joy to be welcomed by Bishop Elie Haddad, BS, in his office in Saida, and to get to know a lot about the church in Lebanon through him. And, in turn, in the evening, we welcomed all the teachers, volunteers, and brothers committed with the summer colonies at the Fratelli Association to our home in Maghdouche to have a prayer with songs from Taizé and an evening meal together. "The Holy Spirit resides in Taizé" We are very thankful for having had the great opportunity to meet Bishop Elie Haddad, BS, the bishop of the Greek-Catholic diocese of Saida. Notre âme attend le Seigneur

Launching our activities... The last days, we have spent a lot of time preparing and planning: On the one hand, as you will read below, the refugee children we will help to take care of will arrive tomorrow morning. On the other hand, we are searching for opportunities to get to know young people and their spirituality, and - maybe - to pray with them. Fratelli  So far, we have spent our mornings at the Fratelli's Association preparing the program as well as the school building for the arrival of 450 refugee children. These children come from Syria, Jordan or Iraq and live in an around Rhmeileh now. Often, they have survived horrifying traumatic events. But - maybe even worse - in many cases, it is very difficult for them to regain strength or to overcome those experiences well because those who could help them cope - family members or caretakers - themselves are strongly traumathised or have died.
